Kuollut Maa

(single - 06/2024)

Brazen Forgery released the single Kuollut Maa on june 14th from their upcoming EP, set to be released in September. September marks the 80th anniversary of the peace treaty that ended the war, according to which Finland had to permanently cede parts of its eastern territories to the Soviet Union. During the war, 450,000 Finnish residents of these ceded areas lost their homes and were forced to relocate within Finland's new borders, seeking a new future after losing all they had. When the Soviet Union later collapsed under its own weight, the borders between Finland and Russia opened, and many people of my grandparents' generation were able to visit their birthplaces for the first time in decades. This song is born out of those stories, thoughts, and feelings.
